There are lots of independent professionals, Realtors and otherwise who reach a certain level of success in their personal careers and decide to take the next step by creating a coaching program to help other professionals in their industry. Many of them make a little cash on the side and get the emotional benefits of helping others and being challenged to push their careers to higher levels of success. Not unlike other industries though there is a much small percentage that manage to create exceptional coaching companies.
By exceptional I mean the kind of company that offers not only valuable information to its clients, but presents it in formats that are entertaining and easy to absorb. I am referring to the kind of company that significantly impacts lives by drastically improving careers and therefore lifestyles. Exceptional coaching companies are those that enjoy longevity because they have mastered the art of quickly adapting to environmental changes and earning long-term clients, but perhaps most importantly for a Realtor coaching company, or any other to be truly exceptional it must be different than any other. There are as many ways to differentiate yourself but here are a few concepts to help you get brainstorming.
(And while you’re at it, you may want to think about how you differentiate yourself in your Realtor career as well.)
#1. Offer an unheard of guarantee.
The large refund guarantee. Ex: If you don’t like the product for any reason you may return it for a full refund, plus $ 50 for wasting your time.
The unlimited guarantee Ex: If you are not satisfied for any reason and choose to refund your “title” at any time you will get a complete refund (even if it’s 5 years from now).
#2. Specialize.
Choose a difficult or uncommon specialty that you excel at, commit to it and be obsessive about it. Do not be tempted to waver into the realm of a generalist. Ex: Short Sales (you may want to get even more specific)
#3 Be Dangerous.
Instead of looking around at the competition and being a slightly more of this and slightly less of that, be bold, dangerous and honest. Talk about what others are avoiding. Support an unpopular position. Take the risk and be yourself. Some will pass you by, but the clients that you have will love you for it.
