Town information- The city of Belfast – Co. Antrim, with its estimated population of 267,500 inhabitants, is located in the County Down region of Northern Ireland, United Kingdom on 54 Degrees 35’49” North and 05 Degrees55’45” West co-ordinates. The beautiful, bustling area boasts with capital city status and is considered the largest urban area in Ulster and second largest city in Ireland.
Weather- Temperatures in the area are temperate with high rainfall levels all year round. Snow fall on the other hand is experienced less than two weeks per year. Winter lows range from 2 and 3 Degrees Celsius and highs 7 to 9 Degrees Celsius. A record low of -13 and high of 12 Degrees Celsius have been recorded in winter. Temperatures over 25 Degrees Celsius in Summer are also very common in the area.
Trade centre- Belfast is regarded one of the busiest industrial trade centres in the United Kingdom, specifically for tobacco products, linen and shipbuilding. The doomed RMS Titanic built in the city, propelled Belfast onto the worldwide stage, making it the largest and most productive shipyard on earth.
Buildings- Building styles in Belfast range from modern to Victorian. The majority of Victorian styled buildings in the area were designed by Sir Charles Lanyon including the Linenhall Library. A couple Edwardian influences deriving directly from Belfast can also be spotted in South Africa and India. Ulster and Northern Banks are undoubtedly the towns’ most exquisite landmark buildings and absolute must-see’s for every visitors to the region.
Transportation- Belfast is serviced by super advanced rail, road, air and ocean transportation systems. Its extensive road network caters for the high motor-vehicle dependency in the area, with as much as 77 percent of city residents making their journey’s by car every day. Taxis are also very common in the area. Belfast is home to two airports namely Belfast International Airport, offering both domestic and International flights and George Best Belfast City Airport, covering mainly Domestic routes.
