I love photography and I bought a Canon EOS XSi (450D) last year from amazon.fr. How I wish I had waited and Canon are on the verge of launching their brand new successor of the Canon EOS T1i (500D), which is very soon (early May 2009). The XSi is a great camera for the price and really builds the bridge between amateur and professional photographers well. I did not think they could improve on to be honest. But they have. Oh, how good they are. The EOS T1i supplies as much for its price. Canon has many features included in the EOS 5D Mk II (which usually costs more than $ 2500) and packed it into the body of the T1i. And guess what? The dimensions are exactly the same as the XSi before (except the weight is heavier 5g). So what does the T1i about the XSi? The T1i has 15.1 megapixels (compared with only 12.2). More advanced DIGIC 4 processor (compared with the DIGIC III on the XSi). The ISO range is expandable to 12,800 compared to only 1600. Video recording mode – you can use it as a video camera, shooting up to 12 minutes (or 4GB) of full HD video! HDMI connection for viewing and playback on an HDTV. A truly unique feature that interests me is strong that the T1i has a great feature for beginners – the car creative zone. When set to one of these zones, the camera guides you to what settings to use via the LCD. In short, the creative auto mode is like having a built-in teacher! I tend to trade in my old XSi and T1i buy just for this feature! Many of the other standard features of Canon cameras are still there, including Live View, self clean sensor, dust removal and so on and storage on SD or SDHC cards. Summary: I am looking forward to the release of this camera in early May and will be talking to my wife so I upgrade my existing XSi. This really looks like a cracking camera. It seems that Canon took another major leap forward and incorporated many new technologies in such a small body and a low price. I can not imagine what they’ll do next, though wi-fi transfer and printing would be good. Do you have a fast connection as the highest-quality RAW images will be well above 20MB. The XSi watched his bridged the gap between amateur and professional, but the T1i seems to beat that by incorporating a built-in tutor! There is nothing worse than on the field after reading something, and then forgotten. The T1i asks you what to do with his creative auto mode. Perhaps they will also provide a mobile phone camera as well! Who knows, stranger things have happened!
