Swing trading is based on the fact that markets respond to the supply and demand equation over the longer term but in the short term, trades push prices to far to the upside or downside when the emotions of greed and fear take hold. These short term price spikes never last long and prices soon return back to a more realistic value.

Swing trading in Forex, aims to sell a currency when it becomes overbought and buy it when it becomes oversold and bank a profit as the price spike turns back down.

So how do you swing trade successfully?

Let’s take a look at how to execute trading signals correctly and we will do this, in a bullish market although, the same logic applies in a bearish one.

1. Look for a short sharp price move to the upside.

2. Look at some momentum indicators to see if price velocity has moved to far to quickly, to make the currency overbought. Momentum indicators are easy to learn and will tell you, if the market is overbought in visual form. There are many you can use however, the best ones in my view are – the RSI Stochastic and MACD. Which ever ones you choose, don’t use to many, a couple is enough.

3. Look for a level of resistance above this level and wait for it to be tested

4. Take a look at momentum and wait for the indicator to turn down and diverge from price and then, sell the currency..

5. Set a target above the key level of support you see and bank your profit just above this level, don’t wait for the level to be hit because, if you hold on to long you risk a move back up which will eat into your profit. Look to bank early and take your profit,when the odds are at there best.

Swing trading in Forex is very simple but its a very effective way, to make big Forex gains and because human nature, will always push prices to far to the upside or downside when greed and fear take hold, it will always work.
