Three Famous Entrepreneurs and Their Advice

In the United States, we hold a capitalist ideal where a rags-to-riches story of self-made success is both encouraging and widely applauded. Entrepreneurs who have made their mark on society through hard work and a bit of luck are the golden standard for thousands of people who choose to start up their own businesses each year. This article will look at some famous self-made business experts, as well as the advice they offer to those who aspire to start a successful business.

Mary Kay Ash. Ms. Ash gained success and respect through developing her multibillion-dollar corporation, Mary Kay Inc. This beauty company allows women the chance to be more in control of their own work rather than constantly come up against a glass ceiling. The founder of Mary Kay Cosmetics tells people, “When you reach an obstacle, turn it into an opportunity.” This is wonderful advice for aspiring entrepreneurs-don’t let a problem derail your goals. Turn it around into a chance to further your dreams even more.

Richard Branson. In developing several business enterprises, Branson fought through his dyslexia to become the 261st richest person. He started a magazine at age 16, and in his early 20s, he began the now-widespread Virgin brand. Branson started with a record label, and branched out to an airline, music stores, another record label, and books, among others. Branson tells us that “business opportunities are like buses, there’s always another one coming.” If you want to start a business, just keep your eyes open. Don’t get discouraged if the first concept flops, because there will always be another thing to come along.

Debbi Fields. This inexperienced young mother started the far-flung Mrs. Fields sweets line with a small cookie shop in Palo Alto, California. Married at 19, Debbi had five daughters and started her business in 1977. Eventually, she was able to create an international corporation that she later sold to an investment group. Debbi also wrote two cookbooks. In regards to her success, she says, “The important thing is not being afraid to take a chance.” If you want to start up your own company, it won’t start itself on its own. You have to take risks and don’t just sit there waiting for an opportunity to hit you over the head.

Whether you are inexperienced or practiced in business, it can be frightening to start a brand-new company from scratch. However, these three auspicious entrepreneurs advise us hopefuls to work past our problems, don’t get discouraged, and be prepared to take risks.
