Zurich: “Cultural Capital of Switzerland”

Zurich, also nicknamed “Little Big City”, is regarded as the largest city of Switzerland. The city is also referred to “Cultural Capital of Switzerland”. Most of Zurich’s main sights are situated within the area on the Limmat River’s sides. There are clusters of churches including Grossmünster and Fraumünster as well as the most expensive shops. Zurich is most recognized by the twin towers with high wooden steeples of the Grossmunster. The Grossmunster with Romanesque style played a major role in the history of the Protestant Reformation. Construction of the present structure began around 1100 and completed around 1220. The church was a part of the first pan-European architectural trend, offering a great carved portal and featuring modern stained-glass windows.
